Seller's Introduction
duPont REGISTRY Live presents this 1963 Jaguar XKE Series 1 3.8 Coupe, a beautifully restored example of one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. Finished in Blue Metallic over a blue leather interior, this Series 1 underwent a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration in 2013 and has been carefully maintained since. Accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the car retains its numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six, with matching stamps confirmed on both the engine block and cylinder head.
Overview
Widely regarded as one of the most significant automotive designs of the 20th century, the early Series 1 XKE combined advanced engineering with dramatic styling that redefined the sports car segment upon its debut. This example was originally finished in Opalescent Silver Blue, further documented by its accompanying heritage records. Power comes from the legendary 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six, fed by triple side-draft SU carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Photos in the Tags and Stampings section shows the engine number stamp which matches the engine number on the data plate and certificate. Additional upgrades include Kent mild performance cams and a lightened flywheel, enhancing responsiveness while preserving the car’s classic character.
The exterior is finished in Blue Metallic and features hallmark Series 1 design elements including the clamshell hood with vented louvers, glass-covered headlights, chrome bumpers, and chrome window trim. Riding on 15-inch knock-off wire wheels, the XKE retains the elegant proportions and unmistakable silhouette that made the model an instant icon.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in blue leather upholstery and accented by aluminum trim and a wood-rim steering wheel. Additional features include Smiths instrumentation and an original-style radio with Bluetooth connectivity, blending period-correct presentation with discreet modern functionality.
Mechanically, the car benefits from 4-wheel disc brakes and Jaguar’s advanced independent rear suspension, both groundbreaking features for the era. A custom heat shield over the exhaust manifolds has also been fitted to improve heat management and drivability. The odometer reads 1,106 miles, however, true mileage is unknown.
This 1963 Jaguar XKE Series 1 3.8 Coupe is offered with a key, serial-numbered wooden box, service records, tool kit, and spare fluids and air filter. The title lists the car as a 1964 model. With its numbers-matching drivetrain, documented restoration, heritage certification, and tasteful upgrades, this XKE represents a highly collectible example of Jaguar’s most celebrated sports car.
