Seller's Introduction
duPont REGISTRY Live is proud to present this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO Tribute, a well-executed homage to one of the most iconic high-performance Camaros of the muscle car era. Finished in its factory-correct Dover White over Dark Blue interior, this example shows approximately 66,000 miles, which are believed to be original. Power comes from a 496 stroker big block V8 paired with a Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission, blending period-correct presentation with upgraded performance.
Overview
The original COPO Camaros were created through Chevrolet’s Central Office Production Order system, allowing select dealers to equip cars with larger-displacement engines beyond standard offerings. This example was built in Van Nuys, California (LOS district code) and remained a California car until approximately 2007, adding to its documented history. It is also accompanied by its original Protect-O-Plate and original California registration, further supporting its provenance.
The 496 stroker V8 is equipped with a Comp Cams high-lift camshaft, delivering strong torque and performance. Power is sent through a Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission to a 12-bolt rear end, supported by power front disc and rear drum brakes and a Magnaflow exhaust system with X-pipe.
The exterior maintains a factory COPO-style appearance in Dover White, featuring white-painted 15-inch steel wheels, chrome bumpers, Chevrolet bowtie badging, and chrome window moldings, along with a driver’s side mirror and rear spoiler.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Dark Blue vinyl with bucket seats and a center console with auxiliary gauges, complemented by blue carpeting, seat belts, and a factory-style radio, presenting a largely original look.
Accompanying the sale are one set of keys, receipts, a cam specification card, Protect-O-Plate, and original California registration. With its believed-original mileage, California history, original documentation, and big block COPO-inspired build, this 1969 Camaro offers a compelling blend of authenticity and performance.
