Seller's Introduction
Our team at duPont REGISTRY Live presents this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Restomod, a full pro-touring build by Karl Kustoms out of Des Moines, Iowa. Under the hood sits a Chevrolet Performance LS7 427ci, a naturally aspirated small-block V8 that delivers serious power with a sharp, high-revving character. It’s pairs with a 4L60E automatic and a Ford 9-inch rear, all sitting on a fully engineered Art Morrison chassis. Finished in a vibrant custom House of Kolor orange with black SS stripes, this Chevelle brings together classic muscle car proportions with modern performance in a way that is both purposeful and well thought out.
Overview
The ’72 Chevelle came from an era when bigger was better. This particular example takes that formula and cranks it way past factory limits, because Karl Kustoms didn’t just restore this Chevy, but rebuilt it from the ground up.
Power comes from an LS7 427 cubic-inch V8, a naturally aspirated small-block crate motor renowned for its high-revving character and strong power delivery. Paired with a Hogan intake and long tube headers, the setup delivers immediate throttle response and a broad powerband. Power is routed through a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission to a Ford 9-inch rear end, creating a drivetrain that balances street usability with strong off-the-line acceleration.

The stock chassis is gone, replaced with a full Art Morrison setup with rack-and-pinion steering, tubular control arms, and a 4-link rear. Coilovers at all four corners, sway bars front and rear. Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes provide modern stopping power to match the engine’s output.
The bodywork is where things get even more dramatic. Finished in a striking House of Kolor orange, with contrasting Black SS stripes, every unnecessary detail has been shaved, door handles, drip rails, side markers, and even the engine bay is tucked and cleaned up. Frenched taillights and color-matched bumpers complete the refined execution, while black Billet Specialties Hydro wheels and subtle detailing reinforce its aggressive stance without overwhelming the original design.
Inside, the cabin is fully custom, featuring black leather and fabric upholstery, a molded dash with digital display, and a center console with a horseshoe shifter. Modern conveniences such as Vintage Air climate control, power windows, and an Alpine touchscreen are seamlessly integrated. This Chevelle moves beyond traditional muscle, combining LS7 small-block power, modern components, and show-level detail into a build that delivers both presence and performance in equal measure in a form that is old-school.
