Seller's Introduction
duPont REGISTRY Live is proud to present this 1987 Porsche 911, extensively transformed with a Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWB) Superwide body conversion personally built by legendary Porsche tuner Akira Nakai in Japan. Combining classic air-cooled Porsche character with signature RWB styling and substantial mechanical upgrades, this example represents a highly individualized interpretation of the G-body 911 platform.
Overview
At the heart of the build is a 964-sourced 3.6-liter flat-six, upgraded with individual throttle bodies, twin-plug ignition, and Motec engine management. Power is sent through a G50 5-speed manual transmission fitted with a lightweight flywheel and Carrera RS clutch, delivering a more direct and responsive driving experience. Additional upgrades include a 964 big brake kit, complementing the car’s enhanced performance capabilities.
Finished in teal paint, the exterior is centered around the dramatic RWB Superwide body kit, featuring widened fenders, exposed riveted flares, and an unmistakable stance synonymous with Nakai-san’s builds. Additional RWB components include a high fixed rear wing and RS-style front bumper, while black carbon fiber projector headlights and 19-inch Brixton Forged multi-piece wheels modernize the appearance. This example also retains the desirable factory slicktop configuration, further enhancing its enthusiast appeal.
Inside, the cabin has been reworked with a distinctly motorsport-inspired layout. Features include Recaro bucket seats, a 6-point roll cage, Willans 4-point harnesses, and an Alcantara-wrapped MOMO steering wheel. Additional details such as Carrera RS door pulls, Carrera RS window cranks, diamond plate flooring, and drilled footwell plates and pedals reinforce the purposeful aesthetic. The dashboard is notably signed by Akira Nakai, adding to the car’s provenance and connection to the RWB brand.
This 1987 Porsche 911 RWB is offered with one key. With its Japan-built Nakai-san body conversion, naturally aspirated 3.6-liter ITB setup, and extensive enthusiast-focused modifications, this example represents a distinctive air-cooled Porsche build with direct ties to one of the most recognizable names in Porsche tuning culture.
