Seller's Introduction

We present to you, a first-generation Audi RS model, the iconic 1995 Audi RS2 Avant, developed jointly with Porsche and hand assembled in Zuffenhausen. One of approximately 2,900 units built during a 16-month production run, this example is finished in RS Blue Pearl with blue Alcantara inserts, riding on upgraded 19-inch BBS E88 wheels with KW coilovers and Porsche-branded Brembo brakes. With tasteful performance modifications, documented recent maintenance, and a clean US title, this RS2 offers collectors an opportunity to secure one of the most historically significant fast wagons ever produced.

Overview

Co-developed with Porsche, the RS2 Avant stands as the original fast Audi wagon and the genesis of the Audi RS bloodline. Built at Porsche’s Rössle-Bau facility in Germany, the RS2 received Porsche-sourced brakes, mirrors, wheels, intake components, and performance development, cementing its reputation as the wagon that embarrassed contemporary sports cars back in the 1990s.

The 2.2-liter turbocharged inline five cylinder was factory rated at 311 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque, paired to a six-speed manual and Quattro AWD with a Torsen center differential and locking rear differential. Period testing reported 0-to-60 mph times as quick as a Ferrari 348, a landmark achievement for a family car in 1995.

This particular RS2 Avant was ordered in RS Blue Pearl Effect with black and blue interior trim, featuring heated power Recaro front seats, carbon fiber cabin accents, Porsche PCCM audio, sunroof, and factory additional gauges. Being a practical wagon, the RS2 offers about 13.07 cubic feet of cargo room, and folding the rear seats down opens it up to nearly 43 cubic feet. It rides on lightweight 19-inch BBS E88 wheels wrapped in Continental SportContact 6 tires, supported by KW coilovers at all four corners. Porsche-branded Brembo calipers clamp cross-drilled rotors, with brake fluid flushed in 2022.

Maintenance records show spark plugs, clutch components, and oil service completed in August 2022, prior to export from Belgium to the United States. The car carries a clean Massachusetts title. A repaint has been reported under prior ownership.

As the first RS model ever produced, the RS2 has achieved cult status among Audi and Porsche collectors. With manual transmission, Porsche engineering influence, and low global production, well-sorted examples like this have become increasingly scarce in the U.S. market.
