Seller's Introduction
Our team at duPont REGISTRY Live proudly presents this 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, finished in Rosso Scuderia over a black leather and carbon-fiber interior and showing 28,037 miles. Developed as the road-going evolution of Ferrari’s 360 Challenge race car, the Challenge Stradale brought extensive weight reduction, motorsport-derived technology, and a more focused driving character to Ferrari’s mid-engine V8 platform. This example was delivered from the factory without an exterior stripe, with the factory stripe being added later. It is further distinguished by its Leather carbon-fiber bucket seats, Alcantara dashboard, carbon-fiber door panels, full-body paint-protection film, and a binder of service records.
Overview
The Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale represents the most focused road car produced from the 360 Modena platform, developed with an emphasis on reduced weight, sharper handling, and a closer connection to Ferrari’s competition machinery. Introduced for the 2004 model year following the 360 Challenge racing program, the Challenge Stradale incorporated lessons learned through Ferrari’s racing efforts while retaining the essential architecture of the mid-engine V8 road car. A total of 1,288 examples were produced worldwide between 2003 and 2004, making the Challenge Stradale a limited-production chapter in Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8 lineage.
For the North American market, Ferrari is understood to have produced approximately 353 to 378 examples. Among US-specification cars, registry sampling and dealer consensus indicate that roughly 75 to 80 percent were ordered without the factory exterior stripe, with many buyers opting for the cleaner appearance or choosing to avoid the substantial additional cost associated with the stripe option. Based on those estimates, approximately 265 to 300 US-specification Challenge Stradales were delivered from the factory with the stripe deleted. As delivered, this example was among those factory stripe-delete cars, with its exterior stripe added later.
Finished in Rosso Scuderia, the car wears 19-inch Challenge-style alloy wheels, Rosso Scuderia brake calipers, carbon-fiber rear-view mirrors, and Scuderia Shields. Full-body paint protection film has also been applied to help preserve the Rosso Scuderia finish. The combination of the factory stripe-delete specification and subsequently added stripe gives this example a configuration that differs from the more commonly seen factory-striped cars while retaining the visual character associated with Ferrari’s lightweight special series.
The Challenge Stradale’s emphasis on weight reduction and driver involvement continues inside, where this example features black leather carbon-fiber bucket seats, an Alcantara dashboard, and carbon-fiber door panels. A yellow central tachometer provides a distinctive contrast within the instrument cluster, while a fire extinguisher further reflects the model’s competition-inspired character.
Power comes from Ferrari’s 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, paired with a six-speed F1 sequential transaxle and sending power exclusively to the rear wheels. The electrohydraulically actuated transmission operated through paddle shifters reinforces the Challenge Stradale’s connection to Ferrari’s contemporary racing technology and its emphasis on rapid driver-directed gear changes.
Showing 28,037 miles, this Challenge Stradale is accompanied by a binder of service records documenting its maintenance history. The sale also includes one key, the original owner’s booklets, and a tool kit. A clean CARFAX further accompanies the car.
More than two decades after its introduction, the 360 Challenge Stradale remains a distinctive expression of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8 era. With limited worldwide production, an estimated 353 to 378 examples delivered to the US/North American market, and a factory stripe-delete specification that is less frequently encountered today, this Rosso Scuderia example combines the model’s lightweight, competition-inspired character with a documented 28,037-mile history and a collection of defining Challenge Stradale features.
