Seller's Introduction
duPont REGISTRY Live presents this 2006 Ford GT, finished in Speed Yellow over an ebony leather interior. Documented in the accompanying records binder as one of just two 2006 Ford GTs produced in this striking shade with the factory stripe delete, both of which also received the optional red-painted brake calipers, making it exceptionally rare. This example is accompanied by its original window sticker, original bill of sale from Davies Ford in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and a comprehensive ownership history binder. Showing 8,734 miles at the time of cataloging, the car seen here combines extensive documentation with one of the rarest known factory specifications of the Ford GT.
Overview
Introduced as the centerpiece of Ford's centennial celebrations around the turn of the millennium, the Ford GT revived one of the most celebrated nameplates in American motorsport history, drawing direct inspiration from the legendary GT40 that claimed four consecutive overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1966 and 1969. Production took place at the Wixom Assembly Plant in Michigan between 2004 and 2006 for the 2005 and 2006 model years, with approximately 4,038 examples hand-assembled before the line closed. Ford deliberately limited production and allocated cars through a selective dealer process, ensuring exclusivity from the outset.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 5.4-liter supercharged V8 that produces 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, which pairs with a Ricardo six-speed manual that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels. An extruded aluminum spaceframe chassis with aluminum body panels, unequal-length control-arm suspension, Brembo vented disc brakes, and a dry-sump lubrication system gave the Ford GT performance worthy of its legendary predecessor while remaining remarkably usable on the road. Capable of a 0-60 mph dash in approximately 3.3 seconds and a top speed of around 205 mph, the Gen-1 Ford GT ranked among the world's fastest production cars of its era.
Delivered new through Davies Ford in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, this particular example was specially ordered in Speed Yellow with the rare factory stripe delete and optional red-painted Brembo brake calipers, a $750 factory option confirmed by both the original retail order and the accompanying Monroney label. The original order paperwork documents the buyer's request for "no stripes" and red brake calipers. A documented Heffner exhaust was installed in 2019, while the original BBS wheel center caps were later replaced following age-related delamination.
The Speed Yellow, without the traditional racing stripes, highlights the Ford GT's timeless proportions, dramatic flying buttress design, and iconic roof-cut doors, a signature GT40-inspired feature that improves cabin access while preserving the car's unmistakable silhouette. Every major intake, vent, and aerodynamic surface serves a functional purpose, channeling cooling air to the engine, intercoolers, brakes, and transmission while contributing to high-speed stability. Factory Ford GT side decals complement the clean specification, while the optional red-painted Brembo brake calipers contrast against the factory six-spoke forged silver BBS aluminum wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia tires.
Inside, the cockpit remains faithful to the GT40's competition-inspired theme while incorporating modern comfort. Sparco carbon-fiber bucket seats trimmed in ebony leather feature the signature GT40-style ventilation grommets, complemented by a machined-aluminum center console, exposed aluminum switchgear, aluminum pedals and door sills, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Ford GT-branded floor mats. The result is an interior that balances race-bred engineering with long-distance usability.
CARFAX documents three private owners across Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado, with no accidents, no structural damage, no airbag deployment, no title issues, and no indication of odometer discrepancies throughout its recorded history. According to the accompanying records, the first owner kept the car in Florida for nearly eight years while averaging fewer than 950 miles annually and servicing it regularly through Parks Ford of Wesley Chapel. Other documentation, including the original window sticker, original bill of sale, retail order paperwork, ownership history binder, factory car cover, tire inflator, and two keys, further reinforces the car's outstanding provenance.
As one of only two 2006 Ford GTs produced in Speed Yellow with the factory stripe delete and optional red-painted brake calipers, this exceptionally well-preserved first-generation example represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of America's defining supercars.
