Seller's Introduction

Our team presents a modern Rennsport icon from Porsche’s Mezger-powered era, a 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS from the coveted 997.1 generation. Showing just 11,843 miles and retaining its factory specification, this example represents one of the most engaging and analog RS models produced before the arrival of electronic driver aids, dual-clutch transmissions, and active rear steering. Finished in Black with Orange RS accents over a Black Alcantara interior, this GT3 RS remains a highly desirable collector-grade example of Porsche’s race-derived road cars.

Overview

The 997.1 GT3 RS occupies a critical position in Porsche’s Rennsport lineage. Introduced as the more focused evolution of the standard 997 GT3, the RS brought meaningful mechanical and chassis upgrades rather than cosmetic differentiation alone. Power comes from the legendary Mezger-based (M97/76) 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six that produces 415 horsepower, 299 pound-feet of torque, and pairs exclusively with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Free of turbocharging, hybridization, or driver assist intervention, the 997.1 GT3 RS delivers a level of throttle response and mechanical clarity that defines the modern-classic Porsche GT experience. 0-60 mph takes about 4.0 seconds, and top speed is an impressive 193 mph.

Compared to the standard GT3, the RS received the wider Carrera 4 body shell, increasing rear track width and stability. Revised suspension geometry, stiffer spring rates, and motorsport-derived components sharpened handling, while weight-saving measures such as carbon fiber panels, thinner glass, and a stripped interior reinforced its track-first intent. The 997.1 GT3 RS tips the scales at just over 3,000 pounds. Aerodynamics were also improved, with a setup consisting of a front splitter and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing, marking one of the first GT3 RS models to generate what Porsche called 'zero-lift' downforce.

This particular 2007 example, finished in Black with Orange RS graphics, wheels, and orange accents on the mirrors, wing and bumpers, shows 11,843 miles and is specified with desirable factory options including black leather seats with Alcantara inserts, Sport Chrono Package, an aluminium footrest, and a thicker three-spoke steering wheel connected to a hydraulic rack, among others. A clean CarFax is noted, while AutoCheck references accident damage reported in 2014. There are no known mechanical modifications, and the paint and bodywork are believed to correlate with the AutoCheck entry, though the car remains visually correct to factory RS specification and presents as a well-preserved, low-mileage example. A clean DME report performed on 1/8/2026 is available in the documents section above.

Today, the 997.1 GT3 RS is increasingly recognized as a modern classic, with fewer than 500 of the 1,100 or so built worldwide believed to be imported to the United States. As later GT3 RS models introduced PDK transmissions, rear-axle steering, active aerodynamics, and electronic intervention, the 997.1 RS has emerged as a sweet-spot Rennsport, offering modern usability with raw, analog engagement. With its Mezger engine, manual-only configuration, and unmistakable RS character, it represents a cornerstone of Porsche’s motorsport-derived road cars. For collectors and drivers alike, this generation offers a compelling blend of rarity, engagement, and long-term significance within the 911 Rennsport hierarchy.
