One of just 14 RGTs produced based on the 997 GT3 platform, this example is the only RGT stateside currently to feature this distinctive shade. Originally commissioned for the former Chairman of Samsung, Mr. Lee, the car retains its original RUF-built Mezger-based 3.8-liter flat-six paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Showing 19,070 miles and accompanied by its original RUF Zertifikat, service records, and factory documentation, this RGT represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly specified and well-documented example from one of Germany’s most respected performance manufacturers. RUF Automobile is best known for its CTR series, cars that pushed the boundaries of performance and established the German brand’s reputation on the global stage. Since the early 2000s, however, the boutique Bavarian sports car maker has also developed a lesser-known but equally significant lineage, the RGT. Conceived as a more focused, naturally aspirated alternative to Porsche’s GT3, the RGT emphasizes reduced weight, manual transmission, and immediate throttle response, effectively serving as RUF’s purist interpretation of the modern 911.

 

Built in Pfaffenhausen in Southern Germany with its own W09 VIN designation, the RGT is recognized as a standalone automobile. The car featured here is based on the 997 GT3 platform. It starts out as a body-in-white before being extensively reworked using RUF-specific components. At its core sits a legendary Mezger-based flat-six, derived from Porsche’s 3.6-liter architecture but enlarged to 3.8 liters through revised components. Think titanium connecting rods, a balanced steel crankshaft, high-lift camshafts, a single-mass flywheel, and an exclusive Bosch Motronic ECU.

 

The result is 445 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque (stock 997 GT3 offered 415 hp and 298 lb-ft), delivered to the rear wheels, through a strengthened 6-speed manual transmission and a single-mass flywheel, creating a direct and highly responsive driving experience. 60 mph takes roughly 4.2 seconds and the top speed is rated at an impressive 197 mph.

 

As for the ride and handling setup, a bespoke Bilstein suspension system and Eibach springs, combined with a wide-body configuration and lightweight construction, deliver exceptional balance and feedback. Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, featuring large ventilated rotors and multi-piston yellow-painted calipers, provide consistent stopping performance. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s 235/35ZR-19s up front, and 325/30ZR-19s at the rear, riding on 19-inch Ruf Superleggera RT12 wheels, allows the car to transition seamlessly between road and track use.

 

This particular example was originally commissioned for the former Chairman of Samsung, Mr.Lee, and spent a considerable amount of time in Japan, and was only imported to the United States in 2023. It is finished in an exquisite seven-layer paint dubbed Chromaflash Hologram Silver, which is a highly distinctive finish that shifts tone depending on light and angle. To further add to its rarity, it is the only RGT currently in the U.S. to feature this unique paint. The front and rear bumpers, which are high-impact areas, also feature paint protection film.

 

The exterior is further defined by functional lightweight components, including a carbon fiber hood, doors, mirrors, and engine cover, along with a fixed rear wing and extended composite bolt-on fender flares that accommodate a wider track and larger wheel and tire setup. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in dark blue leather with white contrast stitching and features carbon fiber bucket seats, carbon fiber trim on the dash, classic five-pod instrumentation, and a full rollcage wrapped in Alcantara. The cabin maintains an analog driver-focused layout.

 

Accompanied by its RUF Zertifikat, two keys, books, and comprehensive service history, this example, with just over 19,000 original miles, with its extremely low production run and the aforementioned rare Chromoflash Hologram color, represents the ultimate expression of a naturally aspirated RUF and carries long-term collector appeal. It offers a level of precision and engagement that few modern performance cars can replicate.
