Our team at duPont REGISTRY Live is pleased to present this exceptionally rare 2014 Ferrari F12tdf Mulotipo MP4, a late-stage factory development prototype showing 19,756 miles at the time of cataloging. The car is finished in Nero over a black interior, complemented by white vinyl roundels and Pirelli graphics characteristic of Ferrari's internal test fleet. Built to validate the F12tdf's aerodynamics, chassis, and drivetrain ahead of the model's October 2015 unveiling at Mugello, in Italy, the MP4 is powered by Ferrari's naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle and rear-wheel drive, representing the engineering program that culminated in the 799 production examples that followed. Previously sold with Ferrari Classiche certification, this example remains one of the few Ferrari factory prototypes to be offered,

Development of the F12tdf began in mid-2014, as Ferrari's engineering team refined the 2012 F12berlinetta into a more focused, homologation-inspired flagship that would eventually revive the celebrated Tour de France nameplate, honoring the endurance road race where the Ferrari 250 GT claimed nine overall victories between 1956 and 1964. 

 

 

While Ferrari's earliest "Muletto" test hacks typically consist of crude donor-bodied cars built to validate individual systems, the "Mulotipo" designation like the car seen here, represents a more advanced stage of engineering, incorporating substantial portions of the forthcoming production design so that the chassis, suspension, steering, cooling, braking, aerodynamic, and electronic systems could be evaluated together before final production sign-off. 

 

 

Built around Ferrari's aluminum space-frame chassis, the MP4 reflects a transitional specification typical of a late-stage factory prototype. The front end carries production-specification F12tdf bodywork, including the model's revised aerodynamic package, while the rear, including the windscreen, rear bumper, and larger rear quarter windows, remains largely F12berlinetta specification. Notably, the car lacks the F12tdf's signature rear-quarter louvres, a defining visual element that features on the production model.

 

 

This front-to-rear specification split showcases Ferrari's phased engineering process, allowing the aforementioned aerodynamic and chassis revisions to be validated before the complete body package was finalized. Other exterior highlights include Ferrari's distinctive black-over-white factory test livery with white roundels, Pirelli-branded vinyl graphics, 20-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels, and a quad-exit exhaust system.

 

 

Inside, the cabin features Nero leather upholstery with Cavallino-embroidered headrests, a Manettino drive-mode selector, a console-mounted bank of prototype cut-off switches, and carbon-fiber door sills and trim. 

 

 

During its factory testing program, Ferrari electronically restricted the MP4 to roughly 15 mph for controlled engineering use, a limitation that has since been removed. Offered on a bill of sale, however, this car is not street legal

 

 

Of the handful of Ferrari factory prototypes and engineering mules known to have entered private ownership across the LaFerrari and F12tdf programs, MP4 is the only documented F12tdf-specific development car to have appeared at public auction. Retaining its original "Vehicle Not Street Legal" designation and offered with one key, it represents a unique opportunity to acquire a tangible piece of Ferrari's internal engineering history, capturing the development of one of Ferrari's most celebrated naturally aspirated V12 grand tourers.
