Seller's Introduction

duPont REGISTRY Live presents this 2014 McLaren P1, chassis #102 of just 375 units produced worldwide. Finished in a stealthy Carbon Black over a matching black leather and Alcantara interior with McLaren Orange contrast stitching, this black-on-black specification complements the P1's dramatic lines and active aerodynamic design. Showing just 1,254 miles since new, this example further benefits from extensive documented factory servicing, including more than $568,900 in maintenance completed by McLaren Chicago in late 2024, which notably includes the installation of the latest Generation 2 high-voltage battery.

Overview

Introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the McLaren P1 succeeded the legendary McLaren F1 as the British marque's flagship road car while completing the celebrated "Holy Trinity" of hybrid hypercars alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. Designed under the direction of Frank Stephenson and engineered/built at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, the P1 pursued a singular objective: to be the world's best driver's car on both road and track.

Built around McLaren's carbon fiber MonoCage chassis, the P1 combines a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 with an electric motor to produce a combined 903 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. A 4.7-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the hybrid system, enabling approximately 6.8 miles of electric-only driving and delivering instantaneous torque via McLaren's IPAS (Instant Power Assist System). Power is delivered exclusively to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with a claimed 0-to-60 mph time of under three seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph.

However, rather than pursuing outright top speed like the McLaren F1 before it, the P1 prioritizes lap times, driver engagement, and aerodynamic performance. Formula 1-derived technologies include a hydraulic RaceActive Chassis Control suspension, steering-wheel-mounted IPAS and DRS controls, and an active aerodynamic system whose hydraulically actuated rear wing and front aero flaps generate up to 1,323 pounds of downforce at 161 mph.

This particular example is finished in Carbon Black with full body PPF over a matching black leather and Alcantara interior accented by McLaren Orange contrast stitching. Factory equipment includes lightweight center-lock forged alloy wheels, carbon fiber bucket seats, a carbon fiber roof scoop, Meridian Surround Sound audio, matte carbon fiber interior trim, carbon ceramic brakes, and the factory hybrid powertrain.

But crucially, the defining feature of this example is the extensive factory-authorized service completed by McLaren Chicago in late 2024. At approximately 740 miles, the car underwent more than $568,900 in documented maintenance, highlighted by the installation of McLaren's Generation 2 high-voltage battery. The updated Gen 2 battery incorporates revised internal construction designed to improve long-term durability and serviceability over the original unit, making it one of the most significant factory upgrades available for the P1.

During the same service, technicians also replaced the motor control unit and DC-DC converter, hybrid drive assembly gearbox, driveline damper, steering rack, electric water pump, front and rear suspension actuators, door latches, low-voltage battery, heavy accumulator, charging unit, along with numerous seals, filters, fluids, software updates, and factory calibration procedures.

Although McLaren has never published production figures by market or color, collector registries suggest that roughly 130 P1s were originally delivered to the United States, while Carbon Black remains one of the least frequently encountered factory finishes. Enthusiast records estimate that between 35 and 40 examples worldwide were specified in Carbon Black, adding another layer of exclusivity to this example's presentation.

The accompanying CARFAX and AutoCheck reports document two personal owners from new, clean title history, no reported accidents or damage, and consistent servicing throughout the car's life. The most recent CARFAX entry records a maintenance inspection and detailing completed by McLaren Chicago in February 2026.

The sale includes one key, the factory charging unit, tow hook, and tire repair kit. Combined with extensive factory-authorized maintenance totaling more than $568,900, the installation of McLaren's latest Generation 2 high-voltage battery, and comprehensive accompanying documentation provide an unusually detailed record of the work completed on this low-mileage P1, which is now ready for its next chapter of ownership.
