As one of a limited production run of just 375 units worldwide, the P1 represents McLaren’s entry into the era-defining “Holy Trinity” of hybrid hypercars, developed alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder in the 2010s. Designed under the direction of Frank Stephenson, the P1 combines advanced aerodynamics, lightweight construction, and hybrid performance into a single, highly focused package. With over $114,000 in MSO options and full paint protection film, this hypercar presents as a well-preserved and highly specified low-mileage example with long-term collectability.

Positioned as a successor to the record-setting 241 mph McLaren F1 of the 1990s, the P1 marked a decisive shift toward hybrid performance for the Woking-based supercar maker. As part of the “Holy Trinity,” the P1 occupies a defining position in the evolution of hybrid hypercars. While each manufacturer pursued a different philosophy, McLaren’s focus remained centered on driver engagement and aerodynamic efficiency.

 

At the P1's core sits a twin-turbocharged mid-engine 3.8-liter V8 paired with an electric motor and a 4.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined output sits at 903 horsepower (727+126) and 664 pound-feet of torque, delivered to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The hybrid system enables an all-electric driving range of approximately 6 to 7 miles, while also providing instant torque fill under acceleration. The result is immediate throttle response and sustained performance, with 0 to 60 mph taking just 2.7 seconds.

 

Designer Frank Stephenson took inspiration from the Cheetah for the P1’s dramatic form, built around a one-piece mono-cage chassis, with a defining characteristic being its aerodynamic focus. Every surface serves a function, from the sculpted bodywork to the active rear wing, which adjusts dynamically to manage downforce and stability. Systems such as Drag Reduction and Instant Power Assist reflect a direct link to Formula 1.

 

This particular example is finished in MSO Dark Palladium Grey, a restrained and technical color that highlights the car’s form. It is further specified with extensive MSO options that add up to a staggering $114,000. They include carbon fiber exterior components in satin finish, along with a body-color upper rear wing. The engine bay features a 24-karat gold heat shield, both a functional and historical reference to McLaren’s engineering heritage. Additional MSO details include titanium wheel bolts and a red P1 logo on the engine cover.

 

Inside, the cabin reflects a similar level of specification. Black Alcantara is paired with red contrast stitching and embroidered P1 headrests, while satin aluminum vent bezels and carbon fiber instrument cluster surrounds reinforce the car's lightweight ethos. Painted switchgear in satin black, blue, and red adds subtle contrast, while six-point harnesses emphasize its track-focused intent.

 

Of the 375 units produced worldwide, it is estimated that over 100 were delivered to the United States. Presented here with just 894 original miles, a comprehensive MSO specification, and a limited production run, this example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a landmark hypercar from one of the most transformative periods in automotive history.
