The 2022 Shelby GT500 represents the peak of the S550 Mustang platform and the latest evolution of a nameplate deeply rooted in the legacy of the late Carroll Shelby. The GT500 badge has only appeared in three distinct eras: the original 1967 model born during the height of American muscle, the S197 revival in the 2000s, and this S550 generation.
