Seller's Introduction
duPont REGISTRY Live presents this 2020 Ford GT MkII, chassis #14 of 45, finished in white with a navy and red Heritage livery paying tribute to Ford's victorious 1966 Le Mans-winning GT40s. Developed by Ford Performance and Multimatic as the ultimate track-only evolution of the road-going GT, the MkII produces 700 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and is being offered from the renowned SFX Collection. As one of only 45 Ford GT MkII examples ever produced, it represents an exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire the ultimate expression of Ford Performance and Multimatic's engineering partnership, a factory-built track weapon that captures the spirit of the American marque's Le Mans legacy.
Overview
Last month, on June 18, Ford commemorated the 60th anniversary of its legendary 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the landmark victory that established the GT40 as one of the most celebrated racing cars of all time. That achievement continues to shape Ford's modern performance cars, none more so than the GT MkII, the most uncompromising factory-built evolution of the second-generation Ford GT.
Developed jointly by Ford Performance and Multimatic, the GT MkII was conceived as the answer to a simple question: what could the modern Ford GT become if it were freed from the constraints of road legality and racing regulations? The result is the track-only machine seen here, engineered without the emissions requirements, ride height restrictions, homologation rules, or Balance of Performance regulations that governed Ford's 2016 Le Mans-winning GTLM race car.
Unveiled in 2019, the MkII is built around the production GT's carbon fiber monocoque but reimagined for maximum circuit performance. Weighing over 200 pounds less than the standard production model, power comes from Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, recalibrated to produce 700 horsepower, an increase over the road-going GT's 647 horsepower. A Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power exclusively to the rear wheels, while Brembo carbon ceramic brakes provide formidable stopping performance.
Five-way adjustable Multimatic DSSV dampers allow the suspension to be tailored for individual circuits and driving styles, complemented by a factory-installed airjack system for rapid pit lane servicing. A MoTeC data acquisition system records telemetry for detailed post-session analysis, giving drivers and engineers the ability to fine-tune performance between sessions further.
Freed from the aerodynamic limitations imposed by production and racing regulations, the GT MkII generates more than 400 percent greater downforce (between 1,800 and 1,900 pounds of downforce at 150 mph) than the road-going Ford GT through an extensively revised aerodynamic package. A towering dual-element fixed rear swan-neck wing works in conjunction with an aggressive front splitter with canards, enlarged front and rear diffusers, carbon fiber fender louvres, and a roof-mounted intake scoop to maximize performance, stability, and cornering performance at speed.
Riding on lightweight 19-inch multispoke gloss-black Forgeline alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport GT slick racing tires, this example is finished in white with navy and red Heritage graphics serving as a tribute to the aforementioned Ford 1966 Le Mans-winning GT40s, creating one of the most recognizable liveries ever applied to the modern Ford GT.
Inside, exposed carbon fiber dominates every visible surface, while fixed Sparco racing seats with six-point Sparco harnesses, an FIA-compliant roll cage, a removable Multimatic-branded carbon fiber steering wheel, and a centrally mounted MoTeC display replace the comfort-oriented appointments of the production GT with an uncompromising competition environment designed exclusively for the race circuit. Offered from the renowned SFX Collection, chassis #14 is accompanied by its factory car cover and battery charger.
