Seller's Introduction
The duPont REGISTRY Live team presents a highly desirable 2020 BMW M2 CS Coupe, offered in its most enthusiast-focused configuration with a 6-speed manual transmission. Finished in Alpine White over an Anthracite Alcantara and leather interior, this example represents the final and most focused evolution of the F87 M2 platform. With limited production, carbon-intensive construction, and the motorsport-derived S55 engine, the M2 CS has already established itself as a modern BMW M icon, bringing analog engagement with contemporary performance capability in one compact, usable package.
Overview
The compact front-engine rear-wheel drive Coupe formula started out in the modern BMW context with the E82 generation 1M back in 2011. Building on that lineage, a decade later, the BMW M2 CS was introduced as the ultimate expression of the F87 platform, sitting above the standard M2 and M2 Competition as a limited-production, track-focused special. Produced in small numbers for a single model year, the CS blends BMW M’s traditional strengths, i.e., compact dimensions, rear-wheel drive, and turbocharged straight-six performance, with meaningful weight reduction (~66 pounds) tipping the scales at ~3,600 pounds and chassis upgrades that offer a stiffer setup, borrowed directly from the M4 CS.
Power comes from BMW M’s S55 3.0-liter twin-power turbo inline-six, putting out 444 horsepower, 406 pound-feet of torque, and paired here with a 6-speed manual gearbox, a configuration increasingly rare in modern M cars and one that significantly enhances long-term desirability. Carbon fiber (CFRP) body panels, including the hood, roof, front splitter, rear diffuser, and trunk spoiler, help reduce weight and lower the center of gravity. 60 mph takes 4.2 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph.
The standard adaptive M suspension, forged 19-inch Y-Spoke lightweight wheels finished in matte gold and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, along with recalibrated stability systems, further reinforce the CS’s track-ready character, while still retaining streetability. While M2 C2 comes with an extensive list of standard equipment, this example is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, one of the most significant factory options available, offering reduced unsprung weight, exceptional fade resistance, and long-term durability. The factory exhaust has been swapped for a Valvetronic exhaust.
Showing just ~3,300+ miles, this particular example benefits from a clean history, two-owner provenance, and careful enthusiast ownership in California and subsequent ownership in Florida. No accidents, no reported body or paintwork, and no major modifications are noted, reinforcing its originality and long-term collectibility. As BMW transitions toward heavier, electrified M models, the (F87) M2 CS represents one of the last compact, rear-drive, manual M cars built around a motorsport-derived engine. Limited in production (sources put the estimate at ~2,200-2,300 worldwide, only ~500-600 made it to the United States) and offered for just one model year, the M2 CS has rapidly gained recognition as a future classic within the BMW circles, particularly in manual form.
