Seller's Introduction

Our team presents one of the most extreme road-going AMG models ever produced, a 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series finished in Obsidian Black Metallic and specified with the highly desirable Project One Edition package. Limited to just 40 examples worldwide, with only 24 believed to have been delivered to the United States, this Black Series represents the pinnacle of AMG’s front-engine performance era. Showing just 409 miles and finished in Obsidian Black Metallic over a Dinamica Black interior with turquoise green accents, this example remains exceptionally preserved, unmodified, and accident-free, offering collectors access to one of AMG’s most focused homologation-style road cars that drew heavily from the Affalterbach-based brand's GT3 and GT4 racing programs.

Overview

The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was engineered as a no-excuses track weapon, designed to challenge the world’s most capable road cars while remaining street-legal. At its core is the most powerful production V8 AMG has ever built, the M178 LS2, 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank engine that produces 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, paired exclusively with a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. 0–60 mph time takes around 3.1 seconds, and the top speed is rated 202 mph, placing the Black Series firmly in supercar territory.

Beyond the performance figures, the Black Series distinguished itself from lesser AMG GTs at the time through a more lightweight and aggressive aerodynamic package. With extensive use of carbon fiber on the hood, side sills, roof, bumpers, an active rear wing, redesigned underbody, and a massive rear diffuser that work together to generate over 880 pounds of downforce at speed, which allowed the car to set a Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap time of 6:43.616, making it the fastest production front-engine car to lap the circuit at the time of its release.

This particular Obsidian black example is further elevated by the Project One Edition specification, which was only available to select AMG One depositors, visually and thematically linking it to Mercedes-AMG’s Formula One program. The package features exclusive exterior graphics inspired by the 2020 F1 championship-winning W11 livery, as well as distinctive three-pointed silver stars and turquoise green elements, reminiscent of the Petronas colors on the bodywork. The interior features the optional Burmester audio system and the same contrasting turquoise green trim elements, inspired by the AMG ONE hypercar, that reinforce the Black Series’ motorsport DNA.

The CARFAX report shows four owners across New York, Montana, and Ohio, with no reported accidents and documented servicing, including a recent oil and filter change. Because the AMG One hypercar itself was limited to 275 units, the special Black Series edition tied to it is often described in the marketplace and enthusiast community as being limited in a relative sense. The most widely accepted production estimates for the Project One Edition are that only around 40 examples were built worldwide, with approximately 24–25 destined for the U.S. market.

As the most powerful, most aerodynamically advanced, and most track-focused AMG road car ever built with a front-mounted V8, it occupies a unique position in modern performance history. With nearly $58,000 in factory options, documented provenance, and direct links to AMG’s Formula One era, this example stands as a cornerstone collectible for serious enthusiasts.
